I think you're over thinking the matching question. You'll be fine.

I actually have an A-1 on order. Mine is a repro from Good Wear leather, no suede, though. You can see them here. Mine will be made out of a lighter weight horsehide from Horween.

I think you are right. Wife is also saying buy the first one and get it over with.

First one (currently specified) looks like snuff suede color wise and I wear my snuff shoes with everything.

I have been informed by TOJ that my MTM suede jacket is ready and here is a pic. Will post some pics when it arrives

The jacket looks good. Did they have any other leather colours to choose from?

I like MaoMao's red and blue combination and could see ordering something similar.

The $550 price is also very reasonable considering this is a MTM suede jacket.

Could you provide some detail about the process of ordering from TOJ?

I had been impatient and bought the Cucinelli jacket instead.

Regarding colors available Drew of TOJ posted a picture to give an idea of the colors available.


How I went about it.

I asked on their SW & D thread whether they would be able to do a A-1 bomber jacket in suede. They do their version of the bomber jacket in leather and it looks like this.


They replied that the jacket I wanted is a variation of their current design so it is possible.

Thereafter we had some email correspondance wherein I sent them more pics of the jacket I wanted including the details and the color I wanted. Once that was done they asked for the measurement. Their standard measurement chart is provided on the website. I only made 2 changes to the standard sizing, the BOC and sleeve length.

Thats it, though they have a lead time of 6 weeks, mine was ready 2 weeks after confirmation and payment.

I has asked whether they can do something like a Belstaff Roadmaster or Barbour International. They confirmed that it can be done.

One member posted a pic of this Cucinelli that he wanted and they have confirmed that they can do it
