Vass fit: U vs. F last

I tried on both the F and U last yesterday at the Vass shop, I think the F last is about half a size roomier width wise than the U last. And small world, I bummed inot another SF member while I was there.
Where was this Vass shop?
Is it possible to find a Vass leather lace-up blucher for under $500? Bergdorf doesn't have such an animal, even on sale!

I have board-flat feet and feel more comfortable in F than in U. F fits me almost as well as bespoke. It is, for me, by far the best RTW last there is.

U does have a higher instep than the F. If you have a flatter foot, F should fit you better than U.

If I wear a US8.5D on the AE #5 last (Jefferson), what should I be getting for the F last?
Is it true that from F to U, one has to size by by 1/2?
