This would not be an upset, as Kansas is the overall #1 seed. And, according to the RPI, the Big 12 is the strongest conference this year.

KU doesn't need Morningstar or Reed to score. Those guys are great role players, but every starter is capable of being the leading scorer. The strength of KU is in the point guard and center, which is going to lead them to the championship.

Syracuse was flying under the radar as a #3 seed and Anthony (who is a better player than either Wall or Cousins) had Warrick and McNamara riding shotgun.

The closest comparison to Kentucky is probably the Fab Five, who led Michigan to the championship game in 1992. I can see Kentucky making a very deep run or losing before the Final Four, but not winning the whole thing.

Their RPI is low from the losses they took when Turner was out. They went 3-3 without him, 25-4 with him.

Houston Cougars will ride the upset wagon to the Final Four, starting with the traditional 13-over-4 upset that makes every year interesting.

Well, until I wake up, that is.

That would mean they'd have to beat Maryland. You don't want them to beat my team do you??

I need for Slim to send me his bracket so I can enter it in my office pool. He's the only person I trust on this board when it comes to sports. Slim, Mauro, Chaser....and that's about it. Oh and LA Guy. Outside of that, oh and maybe Shoreman.

ooh, I didn't know Maryland was in the bracket. sry. If we could make it to the final four without beating Maryland, that would certainly be fine with me.

I agree with you.
I garner too much Duke_Hate to ever ever predict them to succeed though.

Probably. I think they're better than people want to admit. I think they're the third best team in the country.

For this to be true they'd have to be "hands down" the best team in their conference. Which they are not. This game has brought my bracket to a complete stand still.

By "hands down" I think you're implying that they should be better than Maryland by a very wide margin. They aren't better by a large margin, but they are better by a smaller distinguishable margin and if you ask a group of experts you'd get a near unanimous consensus that Duke is better. They've got a better resume than Maryland and their team's makeup is built for tournament success: good perimeter defense, balanced scoring, experience, very good free throw shooting and low turnover rate. Their weakness is defensive rebounding and 2pt. fg % defense, but the top seeds in their bracket aren't physical enough to make it a glaring disadvantage.
