So I am laying here, in intense pain from having a torn abdominal muscle fixed today. Doc has got me all perc'd up. They work pretty well, but is there anything better in that class? He's obviously not going to give oxycon but anything else I should ask for?

For OTC, I found Aleve and Motrin to work best for me.

as an about-to-be-licensed pharmacy student... agree with motrin or aleve... one may work better for you than the other. by the way if going for motrin, you can take up to 600mg (3 tablets) 4 times daily. or 800mg 3 times daily.

lortab is less potent, so at the same milligram strength of hydrocodone to oxycodone, perc is stronger

Why would he give you anything you ask for but not oxycontin?

Percocet and Oxycontin both the same drug: Oxycodone.

The drugs themselves are the same. The preparations are different. Oxycontin contains more oxycodone than percocet, but it is also prepared as a "sustained release", or "time release". This means they can give a large dose, which will slowly be released over a period of time to maintain a steady concentration in the body. Recreational users crush the Oxycontin pills, releasing the oxycodone from its microencapsulation, and getting a high dosage of powder (which contains binders and fillers making it inappropriate for injection and increasing the damage done by snorting).
Hm, so you don't end up pulling a Heath Ledger, you might want to read more.
