Coach at my gym recently told me to check this out... I definitely will never be 70s Big, but this pic rocks it:

The early 20th century was the golden age of strongmen and strength feats. It pretty much died out by WWII.

This isn't really about strongmen, it is more about an old aesthetic about getting really big and really strong without worrying about being a pretty boy.

What do you mean by pretty boy? The guy in the tank looks great, but if cut he'd look just like any contemporary bodybuilder.

I do notice that even competitive bodybuilders in the 60's and 70's (including Arnold and especially Franco) didn't do alot of the stuff that contemporary bodybuilders do - on stage, 70s BBs still kept their armpit, forearm, and leg hair, their bikinis were not as skimpy, and of course the tanning was not the same.

Most (average) people who lift do so for aesthetic reasons, rather than strength.

Yeah but think about how bad you'd look in your extra tapered Nude Flim Flams. No steez at all.

I used to see dudes like that walking around the Castro, no joke theres some big ass dudes there. Except for the dude in the middle this physique is pretty bad for clothes IMO.

This website is rather awesome... their food FAQ should be given to every joker on the Internet who claims he cant gain weight.
