I dunno man, I think the eyelets give it a sort of retro look that seems to work well with the heavier red sole.

I do like the pebble grain cordovan idea though, I hadn't thought of that..

Many people think pebble grain cordovan is too shiny. I have no opinion either way. I am thinking something like this:

Yeah, if that is in calf I can grab it in plaza. My pinky toe has to stretch out the leather on my right foot. I think the plaza would make that supernova.

D'OH! Yeah, Tom's Plaza cap toes are fantastic. I appreciate them much more after seeing the same boot on the modified last.

Anyone know how the 379x last fits or what it's comparable to? I know it was made for the japanese market but couldn't find anything on search.

I go up both half a number size and from D to E from my shoes on the Barrie last to my Leydon last suede chukkas. Going up just half a number size without also increasing the width was not comfortable to me.

I just got back from a trip for work and was greeted by pair of the tan unlined chukkas. Sized up a half size from barrie and they are way too narrow for me. Not sure if I should try to send them back and get a wider width, or just go with the barrie from Tom. Also I think the steel shank is looks since there's a weird clicking sometimes when I walk.

I asked Alden once and they said the Barrie is most similar in sizing. I think the 379x is for the Japanese market.
