I still think there are some colors that would be more fun.

I really liked the Alden longwings in shell on the Grant last for the Black Fleece line.
I have a pair of black pebble grain longwing's from BBBF and I love them. I have to admit that after seeing M4TM's shoes that the black cordovan could be very, very nice.

Very nice! Are the suede unlined? Or just the snuff suede?

Yeah, I think a store must have dumped some to a local chain. I'm keeping my eyes open to see if more show up.

It's funny but I've been doing the same. I used to be all about brown and really never even considered black shoes or boots. Then I picked up a pair of Context Tanker boots and discovered that I really liked them. After that came a pair of White's SD in black and now I am half and half and finding myself looking at more and more black boots these days. Weird.

can anyone compare the Alden Roy boots to something like say, chucks or vans sizing? never had a shoe like this before (have owned only 1 pair of dress shoes all my life since i was a freshman in high school, and even those were from some wholesale shop in downtown LA.) any help would be appreciated
now i know someone with their vast experience can help answer this...just for reference in case anyone needed the info: its built on the barrie last

I love Aldens but they come with the worst laces, especially the flat laces. I've had to change the laces on 3 pairs of my Aldens in the last 6 months. and its not even the speed lacing parts that are breaking them.

so, I really like the way #8 looks when new, the burgundy color, and would be kind of sad if it ages into a brown, b/c that would look more like other brown shoes I have. anyone else feel the same?
