I'm not sure if Peanuts ever made me laugh, even once. Calvin and Hobbes, however, had a great influence on my early developement.

Early Peanuts is incredible. There's never been a comic strip so cruel and sad. If Shulz had ended it as Watterson did, this would be no contest, much as I like C&H. Peanuts went soft long before it ended, but still.

In one of his final interviews, Shulz said something along the lines of, "I did not give this up, this was taken from me." Heartbreaking.
