Thats why I don't watch the Grammys. No wonder all the celeb's give these stupid gift box's away, If I got that crap I would throw it out my window on the way to the Grammys.

No kidding. I wonder if on top of the freebies, participating companies actually have to pay a product placement fee? I mean, how are they "selected" for this distinction? Perhaps EG can illuminate the process?

of course they pay. most likely it goes down this way:

- there is someone "throwing the party" who sets it all up and invites people
- the companies pay to have their product showcased to "celebrities", have pictures taken, etc. the pay covers the cost of the party and leaves a nice profit for the party host
- "celebs" show up for free ****

here's a similar example: http://www.gbkproductions.com/events2009/oscarsuite09/

the key is to get a grammy winner (preferably an actress, b/c the gals pay more attention to this stuff - do you do women's stuff?) to appear in one of your creations soon after accepting her award (think about those nascar guys and the dudes who keep changing their baseball caps). THEN, when another award-winning actress appears on leno/etterman have them wear one of your more 'thoughtprovoking' pieces. when jay/dave asks them about it, they will say it an eg, & naturally mention how meryl/penelpoe/reese/etc was wearing one at the grammys. pass GO & collect $200...

those cut out jeans that he makes, if he would up the denim quality a bit and add some swavaroski (sp) crystals and stuff, that would actually sell really, really well if he got it on anyone remotely famous. His cut out fashions would work very well for women, if he does it right. Those congruent ties would also be big if he did them in a higher quality silk and marketed them to the right people.

Congrats, Eric. Your stylistic vision and mine may differ considerably, but you may recall I was one who always encouraged you to pursue your dream.

I hope you make it really big and can laugh about the time you were banned from Ask Kabbaz About Cruiser (which I always thought was a flagrant outrage, by the way!)

So he was able to give some stuff away, and it probably didn't cost him more than 5 or 6 thou.

And to think he was mocked...
