Hey guys,

There's a lot of interest in Gant & Gant Rugger, so I figured that I'd kick off a dedicated thread for it. We've been stocking Gant Rugger since last Fall, and we'll bring on the new Michael Bastian for Gant line this coming Fall. It's a great seller in-store, and I really like carrying it. The pieces are well made and well priced.

After long last, we got our first delivery of Gant Rugger Spring. I posted all the items below. I've got a good relationship with their sales team, so we'll generally be able to restock most items throughout the season. So if you don't see your size on something that you want, then please drop me a PM, and I can see if we're planning a restock.

And a few notes:

1. The Gant fit is relatively similar to our Epaulet fit. Here's the rough equation with other brands:

Gant Rugger Medium = Epaulet Medium = Band of Outsiders Large = J.Crew Small = Gitman Vintage Small

The overall feeling is close to Gitman Vintage. The shirting fit is not as tailored as our shirts and has more of a classic American sensibility. The jackets are actually very fitted. The Bonded Poplin Parka and Reversible Harrington are some of the sharpest fitting jackets I've ever tried on.

2. Most Gant pieces have some branding and small details. As a rule, I won't buy anything for our store with a garish or ostentatious logo, but that's subjective. I'm a fan of this collection, and I thought that the branding was subtle enough. But I know that some guys don't want to wear logos or branding of any sort, so I've pointed out any branding points in the product descriptions. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to PM me.

3. I've got front & back fit pics already shot for every item. The lighting was crazy that day (intense sun, big shade in front of the store, white snow on the ground) so I've got some color balancing to do. I should be able to post them up and attach them to the individual items tomorrow. So you can see everything in outdoor light and see how it fits me.

OK, so without any further adieu...

If I'm usually a XS in Epaulet, would a Gant S be really too big?

Also, there's already no more Small in the Blue Selvedge?

Thanks.

I wish they were as slim as the Epaulet shirts. They're nice. I think the Handloom Madras is my favourite.

Got the reversable harrington (apologies Mike but Gant UK ships for free to Ireland, couldn't pass that up) and it's a thing of beauty. As Mike says it fits very slimfit but in a good way. Anyone looking for a slim harrington look no further.

Yes, I think that you'd find the Small pretty roomy. Our XS is a lot slimmer.

And the Blue Selvedge is the only shirt where we may be limited on stock. I can pull some from the NY Gant shop, but it's unclear how many they have available. Until I have that confirmation, I'll stick to what I have physically in stock. And our only Blue Small was bought by the man below...

Over the past few seasons, Gant's sizing hasn't been too consistent. For Fall, their patterned shirts were really slim and short - and the oxfords were much bigger. This Season, the Oxfords and patterns are pretty similar - although the Patterned shirts have slightly slimmer and longer sleeves.

I really dig the Madras too. Both that and the Red Plaid are pretty similar to our Epaulet fit. They're not darted and they're not quite as sharply tailored, but it's very close. Great fit overall. We sold a few pieces of them immediately after they hit the rack.
