I was going to pay 60k cash for a car, but the insurance was a little too ridiculous at 8000 a year. I dont know how often this is the case, but don't discount him solely on that basis. I'm proof that it does happen. Oh yeah, I'm 19 btw.

So you haven't had problems with the suspension?

It makes sense to consider the total cost of ownership prior to the purchase. I've known a few folks over the years who have bought cars only to then complain about insurance or routine maintenance cost thereafter.

Have to agree with you on the Aston over the R8, however I don't exactly agree with your reasoning that it is more practical nor that it is a better performer nor that it has a more "modern" (whatever THAT means) style than the R8. As for uniqueness, I don't think there's anything much more "unique" than the R8 since it is unlike anything in Audi's model range. In general, AWD is more practical than RWD, especially in cold climates, where I've seen people have to put sand bags in the boot so that the rear tyres get more traction in the winter. Performance-wise, I'd also give it to the R8 as the numbers are pretty impressive. You seem to be picking the Vantage over the R8 for all the wrong reasons. Reasons to pick the Aston are the quality of the interior materials, the excitement that driving on two wheels instead of four gives you (a healthy loss of confidence goes a long way for driving pleasure), the presence of the machine, the classic proportions, the sound of the engine, the fact that it will one day be well-sought after, and perhaps even the heritage of the "breed" (hard to explain). In most conditions you will be stuck in traffic listening to music - and I'd much rather be stuck in traffic with an Aston than an Audi R8.

What happened? I'm genuinely interested in hearing how teenagers earn $60k-$100k cars.

He said he'd pick the R8 over anything besides the Vantage, then went on (unless I am mistaken) to praise it (the Vantage) for those mentioned reasons since he only mentioned two cars and I took it from his use of "more" that he was comparing the two. Unless he was comparing the R8 to the 911 or sports cars in general, in which case his point is completely correct and I'm wrong. You still haven't told me how you earned your $60k at 19. I refuse to make a point based on name calling and appeals to emotion.

you're totally marsupialed. He CLEARLY said "maybe" which means that he still isn't even sure if he would take the Vantage over the R8. And his use of "costs less" clearly shows that he was referring to the R8. Are you really this stupid in real life?

actually no. Rube is always chirped for being an old man. Second, he trolls my posts like no tomorrow.

And I like how I'm the **** when the guy I was referring to clearly came out of left field and starts talking his ****.

The DRC suspension on the RS4 isn't used on the R8, so I left it out of the discussion.

My DRC did fail after about 10k miles. I replaced it with Stasis SL coilovers and love love love them. The car is so much better on them. Handling is better and the ride is surprisingly MORE comfortable. I would never go back to stock suspension.

Do you run a business, maybe like e-tailing or something? Or did you invent something cool?

I'm genuinely curious how one ends up with 60-70K cash on hand @19.

If true, having $60k cash at 19 is impressive yet dare I say financially stupid..

Anyway, I had an Audi R8 for a few months as a leased vehicle. I liked it but would never have purchased it as I don't usually stay in one place for too long

R8 nice car. Keep in mind all cars but a hand full are a bad investment. Under 25 and want to drive a sports car? I remember when I was 19 and paying through the nose to drive a Corvette. If you can wait till your over 25 and married your insurance will beconsiderably less. By that time the R8 should be a fraction of the price it is now.
