First time poster here.
Loafers without socks. Do you think it is a good look? Will they be comfortible? What colors might you suggest for both pants and shorts? I'm open to ideas.

What do you think of these? Are they too dressy for shorts?

Thanks

I've been known to do it- when lounging alone in my room on the computer at night.

If anyone is going to even come close to seeing your feet, avoid the look like the plague.

Heh? Though it depends on the style, dress or casual, loafers are generally meant to be worn without socks. Most people do not get foot funk from merely walking.

EDIT: DO NOT wear those loafers with shorts.

I've never heard 'meant to be' before. The only people I can think of who wear loafers without socks are thom browne and his ilk, at least other then those distressed canvas ones popular with frat boys. And they never claimed that was the nature of the shoe, they claimed it was 'revolutionary' fashion statement.

Only between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Even then, it's horribly uncomfortable. The no-show socks apparently are designed for those men who want to show the world their unsightly ankles without suffering for it.

loafers sans socks (or hidden socks) are acceptable... they could give you a pair of nasty smelling feet, but acceptable.

the shoes you posted on the other hand are acceptable only if you're going to wear a red sequined coat and sky blue polyester trousers.

The OP's use of the "spectator" smilies suggests a piss-take, does it not?

And it was a pretty amusing one.

Gentleman by Roetzel says it is perfectly acceptable. I don't think I would with such a dressy style ever but with a moc style, sure. Ditto wearing those with shorts, eww.

Definitely OK with ones like LL Bean penny loafers which was a popular look back in the 80s for preppies. I prefer to wear socks with all my shoes but usually use thin, low socks. Never seen the ones Ich_Dien posted but I'd wear that style with the right shoe, I like the extra padding and absorbtion of a sock.

Smell my boat shoes (and they're rinsed in seawater...).

It was a career building act of desperation for a certain designer, but not really a good idea for the rest of us.

acceptable for the look, but not so good for the skin.
