Absolutely! Even though it was only made for TV, it turned out so well it got a theatrical release in Europe. Unreal.

Sir, you have good taste. That's a great film. It's probably my best McDowell. Well, equal with "˜The Caller' which is also criminally underrated/unknown.

City of God (Brazilian)
Das Boot (German)
Downfall (German)
The Lives of Others (German)
Amelie (French)
Cinema Paradiso (Italian)

I know many of these are pretty standard on any movie buff's list, but you still find that many others haven't watched them.

I was going to post Downfall - brilliant movie. "Reigne Margot" was also enjoyable if bloody.

1987. it's a dialogue driven film with only two characters that we know nothing about. It unravels as it goes along, but the final portion of the film is truly bizarre (good or bad depending on your perspective). It's certainly a unique film.

Good pick, LabelKing. I can rely on you to take it up a notch with your interesting choices. I think Altman's "˜Images' is also underrated. But the same can be said for most of his poorly received films including "˜Kansas City', Pret-a-Porter' and' Popeye'. If anything, I'd argue that he doesn't have that great film that puts him instantly on the map as a director (includes "˜MASH, "˜The Player' and "˜Gosford Park'). He was consistently good, but never had an exclamation mark picture.

while fellini's visuals and scores are better, ive havent been moved by his movies
