Once again, I have an iphone. I have a laptop. I will kop the IPad and I will not be the only one. Are you guys really not seeing the "big picture" and all the **** that this thing could be made to do? Wake up in the morning, on the way to work have every newspaper that you need a button touch away. Check all your emails and attachments. Surf styleforum, purchase from an affiliate. Watch last nights episode of 24. On the way home, read a book, program your DVR/Tivo, order dinner etc. All while commuting. Can you do that comfortably on your Blackberry? I'm not even touching on the possibilities for mobile business people like salesmen etc. This thing is useless, according to you guys, i guarantee you that Sony/Nokia/Amazon are not taking this sitting on their hands.

And you can't do all of that in your laptop or netbook?

Multitasking - switch between programs with ease. Not sure what your average web-and-e-mail user will be doing that requires more than that. Not sure what anyone using anything with an 8-10" screen will need more than that, really.

Flash - I assume it will be integrated somehow.

Webcam - no, I suppose you can't show the Internet ********** with it. But it's not designed to be used in a way that webcams work anyway (staring at your straight ahead from 18-24 inches away). I have a hard time believing this is a huge selling point/feature, honestly.

yes. Laptop is four-five times the weight and width and netbooks are weaksauce for mobile surfing and a bunch of other things.

No multitasking means no notifications of emails, no listening to pandora while browsing the web... it's bigger than you think.

Don't be so sure about flash. There has been no annoucement. Palm annouced that its devices will be supporting Flash in the first half of 2010, but Apple has not made any annoucements re: iPhone supporting Flash.

Webcams are pretty much standard on all laptops nowadays. There's no good reason not to have it.

I also forgot to mention, no MS Office. If you're in a professional environment, there's no substitute for Office.

I get e-mail notifications while using my iPhone browser all the time. Also texts, alarms, etc..

There's no iPhone Flash perhaps because it's so processor intensive - apparently the iPad has a much faster processor.

Webcam - just 'cuz every laptop has one doesn't mean they get used.

A 4-5 lbs laptop is really a hell of a lot heavier than a 1.5 lbs iPad that it stops you from doing the things you mentioned?

The lack of flash on the iphone and this new device is a choice on the part of Apple. The Flash standard is documented, and they would have no problem building a 3rd-party flash for this architecture, or getting Adobe to compile one up. Both machines have enough power.

They don't ship flash because they don't want people building applications in it - they want people to build Apple-only applications. Or perhaps, even wider than that, they want to remove flash from the web by making sure n% of web-capable devices don't support it.

I will not buy the iPad, as frankly i think it's pretty stupid. But who the hell uses their laptop webcam ever, let alone enough to justify it being there?
