best way to take care of shirts? how often to wash and keep collars clean??

Wash after every 1-2 wears, Shout on collars, cuffs, and armpits, wash with mild detergent, remove from washer and hang dry.Originally Posted by luftvier

+ 1 as well ---dress shirts PITA washing at home ---- used some downy spray to help get wrinkles out but mostly from traveling packing....
my prior experience with my work dress shirts demanded dry cleaning pressing or lot time ironing...
is there a magic brand?

Well, I never wash any of my dress shirts at home. Never have and never will. Hate laundry. I just take them to the dry cleaners and have them launder them and tell them no starch. Been doing this with all of my shirts for the last 10 years or so and have never had a problem.

I've always had problems with ring around the collar. The only thing that has ever worked for me on the tough ones was using Murphy's Oil wood cleaner. Got out the toughest collar stains.

I used to use a spray bottle --with shoes for shining and with shirts when ironing dry...
+1 though I'd add that you should try and iron your shirts before they dry completely if possible as ironing a bone dry shirt is a PITA.Originally Posted by Smudge
