Anyone read this? I had been 3/4 of the way through for 2 years and I finally picked it up this week to finish. It's an interesting microcosm of immigration difficulties from Latin America. People living in Los Angeles might be interested. Some people die.

Pretty funny from time to time but Im getting increasingly fed up with the existentialist genre.

How ever I will start with a course in economic history tomorrow so my time spent reading fiction will be totally eliminated by the following type of litterature. Possibly this means that I will finally recieve some joy in life.

Need to wrap up Everything Ravaged, Everything Burned, then on to the new Pevear translation of Tolstoy's stories (plus The Death of Ivan Ilyich).

I read a good story about Pevear and his wife and they originally had planned for 10,000 copies of their W&P translation to be printed and then Oprah came along and used their translation of some other book and they had to print 120,000 more copies of W&P to meet up with their new literary stardom. They hang out in the south of France for six months a year and had no idea they were now notorious in literary circles until the Times called them to get an interview about their translation.
