I will make $380 a week after taxes for the next six weeks for a total of $2280

I am paying $2400 in car payments that I don't have to make, but that I am making anyways to get them to stop harassing me and to be done with them. They have been calling 16 times a day for the last week, bothering my father, and leaving threatening messages on my voicemail. I have 4 months to pay them off - but their computer erroneously reports that I am 3 months "late" on my payment. They are too inept to correct their mistake, or even LOOK at my account before calling me and demanding I pay them or be hit with a debt charge-off and lose my title for a year. They had already "filed paperwork" for this process.

I am paying $180 in insurance in this six week period.

I am paying $80 for vehicle tabs in this period.

I am paying $100 for my phone, which I need for work, but which is not covered by my work.

Plus I have to pay for gas, and food.

So yeah, I'm about negative $480 in income for over the course of a month. I had a couple hundred bucks in Christmas money, and I took out a $500 payday loan, which will cost me $575 two weeks after I'm done paying the rest of this **** off. I already sold everything I own that's worth any appreciable money.

I'm not feeling sorry for myself or anything, but claiming that because I have a computer means that I'm not poor at the moment is kind of asinine.

You are, though I like you, patently unqualified to make the judgment you did with no other information.

It means exactly what I said. You make the assumption that because I, at one point, could afford a computer, this means that I can never again be "**** poor".

I am poor.

I actually was poor the first few years of my life. Dad had a small-timer job in financial industry, Mom was taking care of me. Didn't get good until we moved to Long Island.

I appreciate it. I can't wait to be done with these ***** at Chrysler Financial. Seriously, I have talked to about five different people regarding my account - All of them have told me something different. My "account manager" didn't even bother to look at my payment history before angrily telling me how irresponsible I am that I'm so "late" on making my payments. I made her go over my payment history every month for 66 months to tell me exactly where I'm "late" in paying it off. I'm not. (And she got pissed off because she was wrong!) I have four extensions, each one gives me an extra term month to pay off the principal payment after my last payment (which was in December)... and yet - I'm being basically forced into paying them all by the second week of Feb, causing me extreme financial hardship. They don't give a ****. They just want their money, or they are going to screw up my credit and play games with my title for an indeterminate period of time. After I've just spent the last five and a half years paying $35k for a $16k car. Buncha assholes. If I could afford a lawyer, I might be tempted to sue the **** out of them for something. But of course, I can't.

This shows you've never been poor. An entry level job in the financial industry =! **** poor. When you can't go on a school field trip because it costs $5, that's **** poor.

Yeah, that is poor. I am very fortunate to have never lived like that. I am poor now, though, because Mother only gives me around $100/week for food.

My mom, her husband at the time, my sister, and myself lived in an 8x12 storage unit without power or water and bathed at a coin-op laundromat for a year. I was 11 or so.

No offense but the what the hell is with westerners' obsession with having elevated beds? This isn't the Middle Ages people, we don't need elevated beds to keep up from the hay and mud floor of our hut. Is it seriously too much of a hassle to to stand up from the floor rather than a normal bed? This is the perfect example of western pig-headed thriftlessness, and one of the reasons everything's so damn expensive in our countries- everybody thinks they can live on their own and anything less than middle-class poshness is 'poverty,' and they demand huge salaries for even the most hapless tasks. If society was thriftier, I'm sure someone on the OP's budget would be more comfortable (e.g. there's be more decent low-rent apartments, cheaper foods, better public transport, etc).

I'm not **** poor right now because my cash flow is positive. But, net net, I'm very much in the hole due to my six-figure student loans. If my cash inflow were to stop right now for some reason, I'd be **** poor in a lickity split.

What does that make me (other than a douchebag for bragging about my cash flow in front of these other **** poors)?
