Billboard's Top 25 all mixed together. The guy's got some serious skills. As an aside, it's depressing how common autotune is now.

A rare foray into electronia. This Animal Collective track is great.

Thanks, you mean Pink Floyd's older stuff?. I have their entire catalog but always wind up reaching for one of the three albums I mentioned.

Honestly, I barely get the opportunity to listen to music in my current living conditions. Yesterday there was actually peace and quiet around here, so I pulled out some of my own vinyl.

Arnold Schoenberg - Violin Concerto
Karlheinz Stockhausen - Klavierstücke IX
Pierre Boulez - Premiere Sonata
Ernst Krenek - Sechs Vermessene

Like alot of of late Schoenberg, the Violin Concerto has a kind of confused emotional impact on me. There are all these apocalyptic Mahlerian gestures that don't always seem to go somewhere (just as in- well- Mahler.) It's not really a criticism; Schoenberg was a master orchestrator, and if nothing else the concerto has great surface beauty throughout, as well as fascinating violin techniques.

I never really got much into Stockhausen. Of his music, I only have a few of the Klavierstucken and Mantra in my collection. I find it difficult to pull much informationally out of his piano pieces. V is my favorite of the ones I've heard, just in terms of pure musical gesture. IX is just alright.

Krenek seems to becoming one of the most forgotten composers of the 20th century. It's a shame, since they only two pieces I have of his (Sechs Vermessene and Symphony #2) I enjoy immensely. Any composer who can hold your attention for an entire symphony obviously has some skill.

Welcome to Jamrock is a pretty mediocre album, "Road to Zion," which features NaS, is a good track. I don't like the Beatles much on their own, but the Philip Glass mashup is interesting. Elanor Rigby and Metamorphosis 4 come together well. A few the double bass excerpts in Mahler 7 are really fun to play. I'm not sure yet whether I like the Barenboim's recording or the MTT I posted.

Alas, no. I actually have the long skinny fingers of a concert pianist (can easily play any 10th and some 11ths), I just don't have to coordination to go along with it.

I do write music, however.

Somewhere around here, I have vinyl of Cathy Berberian singing Beatles covers.

Though the album cover doesn't give any indication of the fact, the transcriptions were actually written by Luciano Berio.

Do you have any recordings or Finale or Sibelius files on hand?
