Curious, why did you go with black for the first pair? I immediately decided on brown as my fledgling dressy-shoe collection currently consists of 2 black, 1 brown, and 1 burgundy. I know that black-to-brown ratio is sacrilege in these parts, so I'm doing what I can to make things right. That said, black double monks looks a bit... dare I say, bad-ass?

Can't go wrong - I have 4 pair:

- Black
- Brown Suede
- Brown calf double monk
- Brown suede double monk

The funny thing is that while I rarely see other double monks, they are - hands down - the shoes I consistently get the most compliments from both men and women. And I have a pretty solid collection of handgrades...

I have never seen monk shoes like your Barretts before but I love them! The apron top style/grained leather/double strap combination really works!

I think after reading this thread, I'm going to get a pair (by Santoni). I have also been wrestling with the thought of purchasing a pair of brown double monkstrap shoes and today is the day that I'm really convinced that owning a pair is a pride. Thanks

Regards
