Since we are only talking about clothing:

Best purchases
This D&G leather jacket
dolcegabbanashortleathe.jpg

Took me more than a year to track this down!

TBC boots
tbc75574.jpg

Quality was far exceeded my expectations considering these are by Timberland

Worst purchases
These MMM leather boots
Quality was way below what I was expecting for the price

m.a+ linen jacket

It's not that I don't like it, it's just that I never wear it. I feel like I needlessly wasted a couple C-notes every time I look at it.

Best:

J.Crew Classic Fit Pants
POLO Ralph Lauren Estate Shirt, Custom Fit
J.Crew Broken in Tee Shirts

Worst:
I buy stuff all the time I don't really like, and eventually sell. Usually I break even or make a profit, but my worst buy so far has got to be two different suits I bought this year. One H&M one I bought and eventually sold at a pretty big loss when I never wore it. And a Dries Van Noten summer suit that I didn't like as much as I thought I would, and I haven't even sold that yet.

+1. Considering the nature of GILT, this is hardly surprising.

Best purchases:

Diet Butcher down coat
Julius leather jacket
Mr. Olive double riders leather
Mr. Olive tight fit shorts
Wings+Horns service boots

I consider items to be best purchases if I get a lot of use out of them. Thus, outerwear and shoes are the most likely to make my list.

You can see most of my mistakes in my "for sale" thread. Although many of these items were bought 2008. They're not all bad items, but the majority of them did not fit me well (or I later decided they simply were not my style). The most disappointing item I bought in 2009 has to be the W+H chinos. They are not even slim fitting as advertised-- they are more like a traditionally cut chino with a huge amount of taper added to the lower legs. These look ridiculously sloppy on a skinny guy like myself.
