Recommend a scotch in the 80-100 range.

Last year i tried to get him good knives and he didn't want them, so this year I'm going back to scotch, since he never turns away a good bottle. He likes single Malts but I don't know his preferences beyond that.

There are threads about this... I like Laphroaig. If its too cheap; buy two bottles.

Scotch is hard since guys who are in to it have different tastes. If you can find out what he likes that would be the best option.

these were the 2 i thought of immediately.

I just recently tried the Yamazaki and was pleasantly surprised. It's a go to for me this winter.

Macallans has a holiday box for $100 with one bottle of 12 year and one of 18 year. I hope to find this under my tree.

I saw something like that the last time I was at Costco. IIRC it was a 12 and 15. I'm sure most of your better quality liquor stores would carry such a box.
