Do you bother yourself with more humble fibers such as lambswool?

Sure, but only when I find a unique color in lambswool that's not available in cashmere. Rougher grades of lambswool are uncomfortable on my skin, so I have to wear shirts underneath them.

Doc, you have horrid taste in sweaters, pretty good for the other stuff.

I seem to remember you posting some nice v-necks, what gives?

Why do you have so many? Do you use these in lieu of jackets or do you tend to layer often?

I've been collecting cashmere for the last 12+ years. Why? A lot of reasons. Ever since I was a kid I've been fascinated by its thermal performance (lots of warmth for very little weight), its look and especially its feel and comfort.

Some people collect shoes, others collect baseball cards. Cashmere is my thing.

Generally I don't layer unless we have a major cold snap where I live. Usually I'll wear a turtleneck or mock with a v-neck over it, and a jacket on top. During these cold spells I'll also double up on the cashmere socks.

What do you do about moths???

Nice collection. I am sort of jealous, but I realized I pretty much could reduce my collection down just to cashmere turtlenecks and wool or camel polo collars and be happy.

You're probably thinking of the V necks I use for layering, like this:

They're fine but perfectly ordinary. Who wants to look at the mundane when you can enjoy a funky brown snowflake sweater?

I don't expect everyone to go for my Bob Villa third look, but I think that first vintage tennis sweater is pretty awesome. I like the snowflake too. Eventually I'll get around to posting my painfully vintage mohair argyle cardigan. It's like someone made a sweater out of Muppets.

I tend to post my crazier stuff just because it's crazy. But I have plenty of boring stuff too.

RJ, I keep my highest-end stuff in individual cedar boxes. Years ago Nordstrom included these boxes with their house brand cashmere, and I guess my purchase history with the store was good for something: I asked for 100 extra boxes and they gave them to me at no cost.

I can't claim I've never had moth damage, but every time it's been my own mistake (e.g. not cleaning up food spills right away, etc).

Don't know yet. Seems great. I've been looking for the perfect shawl cardigan for a couple of years, and am not disappointed.
