I tried to watch the Matrix for the first time a few months ago and ejected after 15' or so. Reeves is completely unwatchable. He makes my sideboard seem animated.

Those Crank movies are so bad... they are actually good.

Some movies get better with multiple viewings. The Godfather is a movie that I get more out of watching it now then when I first watched it. Casino entertains me even though I have seen it a dozen times. I can't count the number of times Rocky came on TV and I couldn't change the channel. Jackie Gleason makes me smile as Buford T Justice.

I can see this happening with something like The Day The Earth Stood Still but with The Matrix?

Were this a list of movies you shouldn't own, not because they're bad, but because they glue lasting images into your head that you really don't want stuck there, I would list:
Blue Velvet Natural Born Killers A Clockwork Orange Reservoir Dogs.
However, those images can be partially rinsed away with a big fat helping of Barry Levinson, particularly Dinner and Tin Men.

I can sort of see it - great as the film is, it starts off fairly slow, aside from the intro scene where Trinity is chased by agents.

I was talking about someone else's response. I don't know how or why, maybe because I don't own a television, but I first saw The Matrix completely cold - I had no idea what it was about, or even who was in it. When Neo woke up in that goo, I was staring at the screen like

Me, I don't mind if a movie starts slow and gets moving, but Hollywood knows most people simply don't have the attention span. Now everything starts with a bang then backtracks to fill in the story, so they don't lose the Playstation generation.
