I have a pair of LVC 47s with the patch over the yoke as well - seems like an authentic touch. No big deal to me. I find some of the problems I've had with APCs less forgivable (as well as KMW and other brand's selvage coin pocket). Anyway, I wouldn't dismiss these jeans out of hand. I'm not buying them, but whatever.

Ummm...are people really that concerned about the patch going over that seam? If so....there are a lot of jeans out there that have that going on. I was thinking it wasn't that abnormal so I went browsing around real quick and found these which all exhibit it to one extent or another. There are jeans from Momotaro, Sugar Cane, Iron Heart, Flat Head, and Samurai. Seems to be fairly common depending upon the cut.

Am I missing something?

I see so much dry denim and selvage and nudies at my school now... All still shiny **** because these kids think that's why you buy it. And even my Ande Whall's are stitched over the yoke and they're great jeans.

That's ******* hilarious, sitting here in a pair of Ironhearts and as I read the digs about the patches it never occurred to feel my patch until this post. Yup, my S634s also have the patch totally stitched over half of the yoke. It this really a SF groupthink critique, or did it just come out of nowhere? Never bothered me before, not going to worry about it now.

But don't we when we buy APC, or more especially, KMW, Samurai or (name another Japanese brand)?? That's a pretty common markup in the garment industry, isn't it?

Do they?

I'm liking the better-than-levis-and-another-option-to-APC idea. However, for a little more I can get me some gap or jcrew jawnz. I guess I would have to be pretty sold on these to fork it over to UO.

Did it feel nice?

I think they meant the poorness of the application of the patch, how it's thin and stretches over the waistband seam. I think...

Don't bother me none.

Sorry, man. I was lighting my bong mid-sentence and forgot to delete that part.

I know a few hipsters who were wearing raw G Stars long before I even knew what dry denim was.

Yeah, I don't get it. Raw selvege has hit the malls for a while now. When gap is doing it, you've pretty much hit critical mass. I don't think it's going to last, meanwhile enjoy it while you can and pick up some nice cheap ****. Remember when everyone was wearing girl jeans because they couldnt find slim fits? Get over your insecurities. If you like raw denim because of its actual qualities and not because of its "alternative brand" (i use this, very very loosely) you shouldnt give a **** about this.

You running around shirtless? How often is your coin pocket exposed? The patch-over-yoke looks about nine million times worse than a selvedge coin pocket that is only shown in the rare time that my top is pulled out of the way

Well look at the yoke itself, it's a straight line. All other examples you posted have a proper carrier that angles up. Now look at the UO jeans, nearly straight across. That means that the patch is massively oversized in order to go across it. While the brands you chose tend to use large patches, they look nowhere near as big as the UO patches (although this could just be due to the fucked up proportions, it'll still look weird) And for those who are super crazy technical with their details, the Slim Straights use a downward facing flat felled seam, which [from what miz was told by Kuniyoshi-san] is a weaker seam than the upard facing one. And another thing about the pockets, look at how the ass on the skinny and straight slim fits eats the pocket.....
