Can you believe I looked high and low to find the edition corrected by Joyce? I had to scour the net just to find a halfway decent version of Under The Volcano by Lowry too. What is it about the greatest works of literature having the WORST editing possible? I swear Penguin took a draft of Under The Volcano and just ran with it.

I guess so, although they all deal with Paris and seem to follow a linear pattern. I just thought of them as a memoir in short vignettes, readable in bits and pieces, or as a whole.

Although, Rushdie also seems to write his novels (at least the ones I've read) in a similar manner, telling one story and then jumping along to the next - not as sharply delineated as others, but still a series of vignettes.

...still working on Midnight's Children (and it is work, at the moment).

The third voume of Larsson's trilogy arrived and I have now started The Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest. Enjoying it quite a bit. Will probably finish this first.

Read Search for the Lost City of Z which was very very good over the weekend.
Picked up A Little Tour in France by Henry James which is a complete bore to read. Should finish it today or tomorrow.
Have You Can't be President and Havana Nocturne on the way...

Looking for some recommendations as well... Any books on the Amazon and any of its explorers would be cool as would something on thor heyerdahl's expedition.

Kill Bin Laden by "Dalton Fury" - mission stuff is kind of eh, but I'm fascinated by the training and lifestyle of elite soldiers. Actually, I guess that's more a general fascination with outsider micro-cultures, whether that's Delta Force or Appreciation stars (are there any good insider accounts of the modern Appreciation industry?) or cults.
