Overcoats are usually sized to fit over a suit of the same numeric size. In other words, a size 44 overcoat should fit over a size 44 suit.

I'm wondering what color pocket square to get? Do I base the pocket square on the color of the shirt? On the tie? Is wearing a white shirt with a white pocket square taboo? Where are some pointers on this?

Thanks : )

White certainly works - Cary Grant did it endlessly, and endlessly well.

That said, there's no reason to limit yourself. The pocket square can pick up on anything, or mate with anything, so long as it doesn't completely clash. That said, it should NOT (and here's the taboo) match your tie perfectly. It can be in the same range, or relate to the tie, but not match the tie.

Thank you incastoutcast! I think I will go with a nice white linen one from one of the forumites as a start. Then perhaps I can think about it and branch into others : )

You probably can, but the tailor would have to use tricks, meaning a fake cuff. I will try to diagram the cross section of the pant leg. Real cuff: ll ll ll lll lll lll lll Fake cuff: .l ll ll lll lll l l l.l I have one pair of pants done like this, and will never do it again. The hollow part causes a crease in the middle of the cuff, and it is noticeable that the pants don't have real cuffs.

This may sound like a dumb question but what colour is a Dark Royal shade?

I'm looking at purchasing a Dormeuil Royal Opera and I was told it only came in black and dark royal shade?

Thank you.

How is the fit of this shirt on me? The top isn't buttoned because Im mainly worried about the sleeve length. Do sleeves need to be shorter at all or does it look good?

It's a Gap Fitted Perfect shirt in medium tall. (just trying to find a few cheap shirts for work).

I'm 6'4", 170 lbs, 15.5" neck, 39" chest, 34" waist, 35" sleeves or so...

It helps if you tuck it in and stand naturally. Are those the pants you plan to wear it with?

Do you plan to wear it without a jacket as well?

Such as it is, the sleeves are too long and the collar is weird. Look at your left collar in the second picture. It's all jacked up.

If you want to see examples of very well-fitting shirts, search the "What are you wearing right now" thread for user "0b5cur1ty". He's the master.

Not planning on wearing a jacket.

It appears the collar stay came out when I was messing with the shirt earlier. I guess I'll just try this one in a medium.

I'll look up his posts.

Thanks,

Just got a pair of these. They seem less causal than a penny loafer or moccasin style loafer. OK to wear with a suit, or is there a strict "No slip-ons with suits" rule? I live in the Northeast and I see a lot of well-dressed guys wearing this style of shoe with suits.

Loafers with suits is a well-established Americanism.
