What is the point of button flies?

They seem to be pretty popular on this site, but to me they seem counterproductive because with a button fly it will take much longer to urinate.

Am I missing something about why button flies are good?

I usually don't wait till the verge of my kidneys exploding to bleed the lizard, so your points irrelevant.

I won't forget to button my pants, zipper I'm not 100%, (especially when plastered)

I wear unsanforized jeans so the denim shrinks alot, with a zipper the zipper won't shrink and will look distorted.

I never forget to button button flies.

I can't say the same for zipper flies.

I like buttons because they are a not as common as the usual zipper. Its all in the details. As for opening and closing... I never actually use it. I always pull my pants down when I pee (I never use urinals)

Yes button flys are more unique. They dont come unzipped. You only need to unbotton one or two to take a piss. Plus buttons dont get jammed or fall off.

My Attolini trousers has 11 buttons or so, sometimes I wish there is just a zipper.

I've had far more zippers malfunction than buttons.

I don't know about you guys, but zipper flies have a knack for unzipping themselves in the worst circumstances.
