I was wondering: how much acetone should one use when stripping polish from a leather shoe?

I realize that using too much will damage the leather. Also, what do people use to apply it? A cloth? Cotton ball? And is the method similar to applying conditioner, e.g., small circular motions?

Just cover the spout with your rag and tip the can. Then apply elbow grease. A few times over the shoe will remove the stain and do no harm.

I would use rubbing alcohol instead - a 50/50 mixture with water

must less harsh on leather than acetone

gets the job done just as well
