Folks, I suggest we return to the original topic of this threak and not indulge certain members' pathologies.

It does seem to me -- from personal experience -- that A&S are combating (successfully) the reputations for intractability, unapproachability and haphazardness which had swirled around them. John Hitchcock was extremely open to suggestions (except the idea of a cran Necker, that got shot down fast) and made certain alterations to my suit right in front of me. Further, he and Mr Heywood are downright boosterish about A&S now and about what sets A&S apart from other tailors. Some of it is perhaps puffery, but they appear to be working in good faith to make a good suit with a good fit.

Interested as to whether it is a sport coat, or a 3 piece suit, or something in between.

Does this now make five or six tailors who have done draped jackets for you?

It would be interesting if you would compare and contrast among them, and name the ones or one that you prefer.

If someone is recommanding you a tailor or a product, it is quite evident that same person is already quite partial on the work of that particular tailor.

Even the most technical OP such as Manton must be finding hard to escape the partiality syndrome. For most of us , as we based our judgement on more affective reasoning,it is impossible to stay completely impartial.
There is also the cultural, the socio-economical and the sentimental dimension to be taken into account when somebody iailor.s referring you to a certain

I recently wrote to them to ask where my jacket was, and they said that they planned on a second fitting for me. When I said that was impossible, because the word on the 'net was that they only ever do one fitting, they asked me what the 'net was. It was a confusing conversation all around.

Manton, do you plan on doing the fitting in London with the same persons who did the first fitting, or will you conduct a 2nd fitting when they visit New York...but unsure who from A&S will do the fitting?

Maybe they base the number of fittings on your height.
