My latest and possibly last Mister Freedom pickup straight from Tokyo- likely the last new pair of the original 7161 denim utility trousers left on the face of this planet. These have been out of production for about two years. It is a little unfortunate that they are one wash, but I really can't complain. The denims are still quite dark, although the Edo Ai patch has faded a bit. At this point, they need a little 'work'. I need to let down the extra 3" so they are long enough on me, and there are heavy creases from being folded for nearly two years. Not to mention that from the crotch up the suckers are TIGHT. I could barely button them up! So, I'll probably do a cold soak while wearing them this weekend, and maybe a little inside-out ironing to try to get rid of the creasing in the legs and cuff where I let them out. After all of this is done, I'll post up some fit pics. Front:

Fit pics of the MFSC 7161s. After a couple solid days, there is some decent creasing, and I'm even getting lap fades in the 401 Hawaii (right) leg.

At the start, they were super tight from the hips up. They've stretched a little, but they are still ball splitters at this point. I think another 10-15 wears and they will be fitting just perfectly. I realize this isn't the looser fit others have gone for, but I prefer a more slim-straight fit. On a side note, I was watching The Sand Pebbles with Steve McQueen the other night (1966 Navy movie that takes place in 1926), and if it was at all accurate, those guys wore their **** tight.

ive always found the MSF navy inspired line to be amazing. I enjoy the sort of 1940s naval clothing style and so I can dig this.

Mister Freedom * Speed-Safe Clothing for Modern Riders * 1ST GEAR Mister Freedom, never one to disappoint with a compelling story-line or garment line, has moved on this season from the naval theme to clothing inspired by 1930's to 1960's motorcycle gear. With the "Speed-Safe Clothing for Modern Riders" collection Mister Freedom delves deep into the vaults of lost designs and modifies them to today's needs of riders and non-riders of two wheeled motorized vehicles. Fully functional in every way and designed beyond what you'd expect from a small line made in Japan by those obsessed with the years past of garment manufacturing. Every piece is manufactured by Toyo Enterprises (Sugar Cane) with the utmost attention to detail, just as you'd expect from anything produced by Toyo and overseen by Mister Freedom himself, Christophe Loiron. With the collection in first gear we bring you four pieces. A pair of Rider's Dungarees made of a beautiful left hand twill denim, a Mechanic's Shirt made of a indigo salt & pepper fabric similar to a medium weight chambray, a Mechanic's Sweatshirt available in three colors with great detailing and fabric that has to be felt in person to be fully understood, and last but not least a Denim Rider's Cap which is exclusive to Self Edge San Francisco outside of Japan. As with all Mister Freedom collections these are made in extremely small runs and will not be available for long, so needless to say, if you want anything, do not wait. We'll be shifting into second gear in early November with a Horsehide Jacket and a Mulholland Master Jacket, and some other special surprises to come in a few months from now. Check the online store for more images. All these items are now available at SESF, SENY, and in our online store. The Denim Rider's Cap is only available at Self Edge San Francisco. Check the online store product pages for hi-res images, measurements, and far more specs than you probably need for a garment: http://www.selfedge.com/shop/index.p...index&cPath=74 Rider's Dungarees

I grabbed the white one awhile back and love the contrast stitching and details, would prefer it over the blue.

I got the white also. But now I'm considering the blue b/c of its fading characteristic.

Sorry I missed your guys' comments earlier.

Thanks! Yeah, the Okinawa denim is cool, but the Hawaii denim has such bright undertones, and the Edo Ai is so peculiar with its green cast. I think my next jeans have to be one of those two. I would love to see how a pair of raw Edo Ai bucklebacks would age.

THanks, guys. The belt is a Banana Republic washed leather belt that I've worn for a long time. It has a rather rich patina at this point.
