Differently styled shoes on the same last

Do they fit the same? For example, Alden's Barrie last shoes. Does the longwing fit the same as the saddle oxford or the Brooks blucher? Does the reverse welt make a difference as far as fit is concerned?

Thanks

Yes, I have several shoes on the Barrie last and they all fit the same.

The only possible difference is that a stiff captoe may pinch a little - otherwise fit will be the same.

With some Allen-Edmonds shoes I found different styles fit differently on the same last. This was most noticeable with the old 0 last (not the current one), which has been a good fit with bluchers for me, but not with bals.

They tend to fit a little differently between a balmoral and a derby but that mainly due to the lacing on the vamp, which may work for someone with higher instep. A low vamp penny loafer is also likely to fit differently from a pair of monks, even on the same last.

The difference in "vintage" may also affect the fit slightly. This means the leather used and the amount of stretching (especially when done by different artisans) during the manufacturing process make cause differences in how the leather gives with wear. The reverse welt, norwegian welt etc would have little bearing on the fit (when walking) except if the soles are doubly thick or heavy.

However, in general, the differences to me are rather insignifcant, at least not to the point where I require a different size. As to the question, they will fit the same although the barrie last, i've found, seems to fit a bit more spacious that most other Alden last.

to echo the most recent posts - of course they should, sometimes they don't.

sometimes even 2 pairs of the exact same shoe in the same store don't fit exactly the same

That kinda worries me. I've been thinking of ordering a pair of Vass online, one with a norwegian front and a reverse welt. I have a budapest style derby on the Peter last without the reverse welt. The Peter last fits me very well on the style of shoe I have. I was just wondering if changing the style of shoe and welt preferences would have an impact on fit. I guess the answer is that it depends, sometimes.

Oh, and sorry about the confusion with Alden and the Barrie last. I have their longwing but am not looking to purchase any additional Aldens. I just figured that Alden would be a good example since they are more readily available, atleast here in N. America.
