What do you do if your tailor tells you you're fat?

around 20-25 miles a week, so I was trimmer. I had to stop running
due to disc problems (from running). My upper body is naturally large

i fail to see hwo one could be offended by the assistants actions. would she be wrong to comment if a bag of crack fell out of a clients pockets?

OP, try to lose some weight. Be healthy. I haven't read thru this whole thread but sometimes folks from elsewhere can come across as harsh in English, if you know what I mean.

Set a goal and stick with it. Soon you'll be giving clothes away & buying new ones to fit your new physique. You will feel lighter and those hikes will be nothing. Your heart will thank you.

Lets be honest - if you're fat, you know your fat. It should be no surprise that your tailor also notices this.

Tailors are looking for a certain line. If you're too muscular, he'd probably tell you you're too big. I doubt it was meant to be offensive, it was an observation.

I'm glad it worked out for you in the end. Centofanti is a master tailor and said to be a real gentleman. Sometimes polite, honest confrontation helps a lot. As I said before, I thought his daughter was rude. It's nice to think that bad beginnings can be overcome.

Sure, saying "you could stand to lose a few pounds" while getting measured or showing you how a jacket can look if you lost some weight - while being measured, when it's appropriate to mention such things - is fine. But as you're leaving, as a parting word? This is OK?

I don't have anything else to add because I'm the perfect height and build, and my face is so handsome I refrain from usingfemale tailors as they cannot keep their hands and eyes off of me while pinning my jacket for waist suppression to my perfectly tapered form.

If my tailor were to tell me I'm fat ... I'd respond "Your my tailor, not my personal trainer. Now hush ... and make me look good ... even if I don't"

I might also drop a less than subtle hint ... "I just got the nicest mailing from Poole ... they certainly have some beautiful house tweeds this year. I'll bet they wouldn't tell me I'm fat."

There would be a bit of play in the inflection ... but he'd also know not to say it again.
