C&J Quorn that I just sold. It kills me that these weren't my size. I love Jodhpurs.

These are beauts. Was looking at these before I bought the EG Greshams. They look even better in real life.

Greshams in dark oak are my grail shoe. What color/last did you get?

My wife got very nice ones from Carmina Bootmaker (Spain) - I had a look at the men's version. Beauties as well. No deep link to the pic - sorry. Go to Men's collection --> Forest --> the last one is it.

The jodhpur is a wonderfully old-fashioned, traditional English boot. I'm not prepared to pay Edward Green prices for one (though I do own some Edward Green shoes), so I bought the Crockett & Jones "Cottesmore". Beautiful lines - slightly elongated, with a rounded toe.

The colour is quite superb - a rich 'aristocratic' chestnut brown, which is at least as good as Edward Green's chestnut, in my opinion. It's slightly darker, with a lovely rich colour.

I intended buying Crockett's chelsea boot, but it has an ugly squared off toe, which disrupts the lines of the boot. My eyes simply froze when I looked at it. It would be better on the 341 last. That said, and of course this is my own opinion, I believe that the jodphur is a more interesting style than the chelsea boot. It's less conspicious, eccentric, and fits wonderfully.

It depends really what you want - if you intend roughing it, R.M.Williams might be a better choice. Not as nice (leather, colour, etc not as good), but very robust and hardy boots all the same.

Sanders have some on offer - about the price of Loake. Due to the complexity of construction and the fact that more leather is used, I'd wouldn't drop down below Crockett's myself.

Horses for courses!
