And apparently the checks are going to pay for the heat and not for the salaries.

In the 14 years I spent in the world of higher education, I can only think of one or two professors that were truly men of elegance and style. Of course, in those days coat and tie were still the norm for faculty in the classroom. Most were mediocre, certainly not memorable dressers.

I do find the OP's jotting down everything the numerous participants were wearing a little odd--that must have been one boring meeting! But, then, most academic...no, most meetings, period, are.

Except for the abysmal shoes on most of the men, they didn't sound too badly turned out compared to how badly so many men do when they try to "dress up."

So true that it takes all the fun out of this thread.

Director, Public Health - Oxxford charcoal grey with faint pinstripe 3-button suit, blue striped shirt, red & blue bow tie & black geox-like shoes plus a ball hat.

This outfit has to win some sort of prize.

This attire seems uncharacteristic for a business school dean.

Navy variegated 1 button, peak lapel, white french cuff shirt, vintage silver square links, silver tie bar, burgundy tie with white pin dots, bordeaux swan necks, no PS.

Geox-like shoes similar to the picture I've attached.

fifteen minutes to survey the room and make notes which in the midst of 14 hour days doesn't seem like cheating anyone out of tuition. If it makes you feel better, I didn't go to the faculty club for lunch. I worked and ate at my desk.

He's new and this was my first meeting with him and I was kind of thrown myself. He also chewed on a toothpick.

Agreed. Law and B-School deans (and profs) more often dress better than the rest of the school.
