Guns & Roses, yeah, I said it.
Van Morrison, someone explain him to me. I see him mentioned a lot here, mostly by AF. I tried listening to something of his. I did not get it.

That's true, I also think Cher was his babysitter for a while too.

Well I'll be blown. I guess Pink Floyd must have had an entire list dedicated to them, instead. That's the the only way I can explain their absence from the top 5 let alone the top 100.

My two cents for the topic; Bruce Springsteen. My favourite song of his is probably 'Tunnel of Love', and I don't really understand the appeal of his all-American belters.

The Clash have two significant albums. That's it. They also released this.

hmmm. Jimmy Buffett released some 30-odd albums, plus a slew of live discs. Does that make him better than The Clash?

No. If you want to be one of the top ten bands of all time you should probably have more than two albums of relevance in music history. The Clash don't. So **** them.

So, if Michael Jackson's output was limited to Off the Wall and Thriller, would that make him unworthy of any Top 10 list?

He's unworthy of it now, in part because his career is basically two and half albums worth of quality material, some of which he didn't even write.

Interesting: the list (filtered for groups only) goes:

Beatles
Rolling Scones
Beach Boys
Zep
Velvet Underground
U2
Ramones
Nirvana
Who
Clash

How many of these would you throw out, and what would you put in their places?

I'd replace the Ramones, Nirvana, and The Clash with Radiohead, Pink Floyd, and The Kinks.

and keep the Velvet Underground? only five studio albums, and the rest are live discs and re-hashes. Who were they, again?

Actually, Nirvana only had, what, three original studio albums? Were they that much better than the Clash?

The VU have four studio albums that still hold up as great albums and their two or three best are better than the Clash's best. VU & Nico alone is better than the Clash's entire output.
