Very nice, Kaplan, best pic ITT, yet (apart from Montesquiou)...the Italians are simply always so diligent and tasteful when it comes to craftmanship and design. I'll certainly keep that address in mind- "Danke!"... Also thanks mr monty: your pics make me want to also look into other, alternative colours..

Plus Merola's shop is more charming.

I seem to remember someone saying here that Merola don't sell to private customers anymore.

Did you buy from a shop in Rome, at the address listed on their site?

How long ago?

This thread makes me want to invest in a pair of good gloves. What are the preferred materials for winter gloves? Deer skin? Cashmere lined? Lambswool lined?

I placed an order for a pair of chester jeffries gloves (Paris in brown cape leather, silk lined), which is supposed to ship this week. Provided just measurements in CM without any tracing. Will post pics when it gets here.

My wife and I bought several pairs in their store in Rome, including some as gifts. I think it was in 2002. If I recall correctly, the shop was on the via del Corso. The Merola store was a little oasis of calm and elegance in a busy area. The proprietor was quite understated, but he was clearly very proud of their products.

We haven't been back since, so I don't know if they still sell to retail customers. I hope so!

I like the gloves from Anedoti - made in Italy and sold on the net out of the UK - delivery worldwide apparently.

I got black (rather than brown) napa ones as a present last week..but they also have some nice brown leather gloves...prefer the darker ones but added the tan ones as you were looking for light brown gloves..

No, Sir, not eel www.illari.com, peccary from the wild, greasy, coarse bristled, pig-like Javelena of the SW U.S., Central & South America. The purveyor's label, or stamp, indicates Germany, or did so previously.
