Anyone else tired of the slim fitting trend?

Yes and no. I myself am quite thin, so anything that does not have, as you say, a 'slim' look will appear to be baggy on me. So, for me, and many people like me, 'slim-fit' clothes are simply clothes that fit, as opposed to clothes that look like a tent.

when I say "does this look slim", I don't mean "can you see both my sack AND shaft in these pants" but rather "does this fit properly for somebody of my proportions or do these look like genie pants"

Trends come and go.

Either you are on top of the wave and enjoy them unabashed, totally oblivious and unresponsive or you are a conservative critic in their wake. All have their pros and cons.

PS Me thinks painted on sausage fit is bad.

haha, lose some weight. I jest but the I'm thin and tall makes me a suitable candidate for the slim fit.

Are the minions the slim-fitters or the anti-slims?

I'm actually tired of the trend of trends. As many above have noted, nothing works for everyone.

Having said that, I like that more athletic fits in RTW seem to be more available now. I suspect most people on here have > 6-inch drops.

8 inch drop. (im sure 4 for the op, lol)

Sorry to disappoint you guys but drop has nothing to do with being slim or skinny. In fact, I'd say that most really skinny guys have a very narrow chest and accordingly a very low drop. Another stupid myth. I have a 14" drop and 2.2% body fat btw.

It's not athletic. It doesn't have to mean skinny.

It's not a trend.

The basic concept of wearing clothes that are not overly loose is fine enough. I like being able to find clothes that fit passably off-the-rack, though I accept that I will always have to have sleeves taken up.

However, around here it too often leads to an obsession. Trousers must be razor-thin in the calf, even when a fuller cut has a fine pedigree--thin dandies like Fred Astaire and the Prince of Wales come to mind. Shirts must be darted even when they are plenty slim. I remember when one poster asked about tie width, the answer back was "Slim." Not "moderate," which everyone knows is the right answer, but "slim."

The emphasis on slim-fitting suits can also be a bit silly--a full chest and narrow waist looks more masculine than an all-over narrow. And pleats make sense, no matter what anyone says.

Clothes that fit are good, but it would do everyone here well to remember that there are plenty of correct ways to cut clothes, some of which are not borderline-tight and don't make your shoes look huge. And inasmuch as it means style giving way to fashion, I have my doubts about the slim-fitting trend.
