Hello everyone!

I am new to this forum , Thank you for helping me.

I recently got a peacoat, and being a newbie, I don't really know about all the fitting details but I have a picture. The sleeves definitely need to be shortened and also made smaller(reducing the diameter of the sleeves - is there a better term for this ? thanks). Is there anything else I should pay attention to? When I wear it , only the sleeves look out of line to me.

My god those arms are ginormous. The body looks to be of a decent fit, although there is a bit too much room in the shoulders. I'm not sure if there is a proper term, but "tapering" and "slimming" are normal. What size is that? You may have better luck swapping the coat out for a smaller size. I may be wrong, but with arm holes that big you're going to need to have the arm holes raised to makes the sleeves taper cleaner. If you don't have the arm holes raised, the sleeves will be more cone-like rather than cylinder-like. This might set you back quite a bit in charges, and success is not guaranteed. A picture with your arms at your side slightly away from your waist might give a better view and impression about the jacket's potential, but the more I look, the more I think you should try a smaller size and cut your loss. When you get it right it will be worth it. My peacoat might be my favorite article of clothing.

Hey!!! Thanks for the reply. The problem is that this size is already 2(34R , i usually wear a 35-36) chest sizes smaller than what i wear, so the upper body is a snug fit. Not too tight but I can fit a shirt and a sweater. I am quite surprised by the size of the arms as well. I will try to get the picture you asked for later today! Thanks again!

It's actually a navy peacoat. WWII, i think , from what i read here because of the corduroy lined pockets and kersey blue wool...not a 100% though.

I have seen the old navy peacoats, they are absolute shite!

anybody know any good japanese alternatives to inapt? I was reading through this thread and am convinced that it would be too tight on my arms.

I'm 5'7 145 lbs with a 38" chest.. got some muscle but a lot of things i've tried lately fit too boxy on me so i thought i'd try importing.

Christ, I have a 40" chest, 5' 8", 160lbs and the large is still kind of snug. Wonder if I could like shift the buttons a bit so it'll fit more loose?

I'm looking to unload a large Inapt peacoat. Peacoats are not my style and now I'm stuck with another yet unworn clothing piece.

just got a new pea coat from oliver spencer. the chap in the the shop said he'd be happy to change it for a size down if i retrospectively decided it was too large.

I'm having trouble making my mind up. It seems to fit nice on the shoulders, maybe a bit long on the arms. but not too sure about the body.

I'm wearing a tshirt and thin jumper under this. I may want to wear a scarf with it once it gets cold:
