Is The Last Waltz the best concert film ever made?

I think so.

A true classic of The Band's last performance, Martin Scorsese really outdoes himself with great lighting and shots and interviews that draw us in.

Highly recommended film for you music fans.

it's a classic. the interviews are hilarious and the playing is great but the production is a little over the top for me at times, specifically the staples singer and emmylou harris parts. it's a great time capsule for one of music's greatest eras. i love it but i gotta go with talking heads stop making sense for the title of best.

Weird, I just watched this last weekend.

It's up there at least, but my vote goes to Wattstax.

It's too bad CCR weren't included in the Woodstock film...

It should be called "The Robbie Robertson Show," not "The Last Waltz." I don't think it accurately represents the group that even "Rock of Ages" displays.

If one's only exposure to The Band was "The Last Waltz" they would assume that Robbie Robertson was the undisputed band leader. Just not the case.

Did you know Scorsese was assistant director and an editor of Woodstock? I'd forgotten. I'll also put Woodstock above Last Waltz on the list.

I have fond memories of listening to George Harrison's Concert for Bangladesh (starving child on box set cover aside). I am correct in believing that this was filmed?

Stop making Sense is amazing. As much an art film as a concert. I think he created something all new with it. (plus that suit!)

Another favorite of mine. I was in the front row of the warm-up show before they filmed it in L.A.
