I was worried the budget would limit my options. I might need to expand it a bit. I think I am leaning towards a chukka, though most of the chukkas I see are not really to my liking and don't look like they would make it through one winter. I like the style of these but the quality looks to be subpar (even in my budget). The one review didn't help either.

I'm also looking for a winter boot like The Day Man. Minnesota winters are long and brutal.

Jesus Christ that leather looks awful. Definitely pass on those.

I couldn't agree more. I do like the style otherwise so it seemed like a good example of what I am generally looking for. Something like that with leather that doesn't look like shiny cardboard.

Unfortunately, this did not answer my question. So a 'keffiyeh' can be worn on top of the head or around the neck, so it's not in the fold or position. Therefore, it must be the pattern, correct? So which pattern exactly makes a keffiyeh?

I think gimmeshoes.com has quite a selection of shoes/boots at decent prices. Might wanna check it out.

Are chinos appropriate to wear in fall and winter? It seems like corduroys would work better in just about every case but I have a pair of darker gold colored chinos from Uniqlo that I was curious about. If not, what other than corduroys is acceptable? Dry denim/wool pants?

For sure. That is why they come in different weights, and why some kind lined with flannel.

But like you say there are other options in fall and winter. Heavyweight chinos might not be appealing next to cords, wool flannels, moleskins, etc.

i thought delicates was the agitation on the wash... do the washers not have a "bright colors" setting? that's usually the cold water wash.
