Help Finding First Pair of Raw Denim in Chicago

Hello from a long-time lurker/first-time poster!

I'll keep this simple: I am on a quest to find my first pair of raw denim. I live in the Western Suburbs of Chicago (60527). Where could I go to get some? (This can include downtown Chicago).

Budget would be hopefully no more than $150-$200. I normally buy jeans at 32W x 30L and I am not going to have enough time to get the inseam altered (which is why I haven't bought anything online, yet). I am hoping that inseam isn't going to be a problem.

If anyone could help me out, I would greatly appreciate it. I know there are other threads about Chicago, but I haven't seen any about the suburbs.

Thanks!

Robert

Isn't there like a place we relegate all the special flower threads now?

There are several shops in Wicker Park you can check out. I suggest checking out Hejfina. They are also an affiliate of SF.

They should and usually do have a cabinet full of deadstock LVC...It's on Armitage just west of Racine (southside of the street) in Lincoln Park. It's not out on display, you have to ask for it and the last time I was there about 5 months ago, they had a large selection to choose from.

Great, thanks for the heads up, I'll have to check them out. Googling their name only really yields a ****** website and a few reviews on yelp.

Do they have a lot of different years of LVC (33, 47, etc.)? What are the prices like?

I couldn't tell ya...Last I looked was just for some LVC 1947s which they had a couple washes in, but that cabinet was full. Prices range from the upper $100s to well over $200...Best bet is to hit the store up and talk to the older dude who owns it. There are a lot of hot girls who work there, but they no **** about denim, but the old dude knows his ****...

Everyone know that the only people that live in the Western Suburbs are soccer moms, paunchy middle aged commuters and their little brats. Just trek downtown(ish) for the day and scope a bunch of shops. Helps to know what brand(s) you'd like to check out so you can find who sells them.
