The only thing in that price range that isn't AE/Alden blob like will be Ferragamo's, Bally's which can be easily found on ebay.

Just a question...have you seen the AE Mora in person? It really is a beautiful model from AE and most certainly is not a blob at all. The C&J Lowndes is a different styling on the toebox ( tapered plain toe w-medallion)and shouldn't be compared to the Mora in the first place. Both are beautiful. Also, are you looking at new in box, or also looking at pre-owned?

Are single monks considered less acceptable and stylish?

I was thinking of getting a monk, but was not sure what colour and style was best. Any advice?

i have seen the mora in person and i never said its not nice or good looking! its just not what i expect from a double monk.
the shoe should look more "young" like the lowndes with its nice toebox.

and of course i would prefer new in box but i dont care too much if the shoe is used when the price is right

I like the single monks more too, but am on the fence on purchasing any dress shoes for now.
