Your photo collage is beautiful! Really good pics.

I like your purchases too. Is "vintage linen" a sort of washed-out, super soft linen? It's an irresistible material.

How about the Italian master tailors such as Rubinacci ?
Did you visit their shop or other tailoring houses ?

Yes, Trastevere is really beautiful and a wonderful neighbourhood to walk around in. We had an excellent dinner there at Taverna Trilussa (Bruschetta with truffles and porcini mushrooms, pasta carbonara, Fiorentino steak, a bottle of Moroello Principe Pallavicini, tiramisu, golden grappa and an espresso

I was only in Napoli for a day and didn't want to pay 240 Euro for a MTM when I couldn't come back for a fitting (plus shipping costs). As it turns out, the Finamores OTR fits me really well.

And yes, that knit tie is really nice

Thank you. Yes, that linen is pretty much like you describe it.

I did visit Rubinacci (how could I not?

), but I didn't get anything.

They had a very nice solid navy tie in shantung silk which I regret not picking up.

my wife got back from a trip to italy a few months ago-- she also enjoyed your photos, and wanted to know if you remembered what the logo was on the cappuccino cup? great pix.

Here's what I ended up with:

Navy Cucinelli wool/cashmere v-neck
Brown, unlined deer skin gloves from Cilento (not sure if these are unbranded Merola or not - the guy I spoke to didn't seem to know. Either way, they are very nice.)
White Finamore cotton/linen shirt
Light blue Finamore cotton shirt
Light blue Finamore linen PS
Navy Finamore knit tie
Aqua Borrelli Luxury Vintage linen shirt
Navy Borrelli canvas belt
Off white Borrelli canvas belt
(The belts are made by Barone Roccadoro and have solid brass buckles with a finish that looks like brushed steel.)
White cotton/hemp Incotex pants
Dark brown Tod's suede moccasins

Here's a quick group shot that doesn't really do anything justice:

David, Marinella charges between 90 and 100 Euros (I forgot) for an OTR grenadine tie.

After being escorted from their smaller store - around the corner and up a wide set of stairs - to their larger one (necessary for a bespoke order) I enquired about their silk. The woman I spoke with didn't know and phoned someone to check.

Apparently they get some of their grenadine silk from the UK and some from Italy; I wasn't given any names at first. When I suggested Fermo Fossati as the Italian source, they replied that some of their silk indeed was from there.

Price of a 3 fold bespoke grenadine is 120 Euros, (what they call) a 7 fold is 180. I didn't go to Cappelli, sorry.

I made a bespoke order for a navy grenadine that probably is made with FF silk as it looked very similar to what I've seen in photos of Hober ties.

Marinella also had a less chunky grenadine, which I assume is from the UK supplier.

I'll leave you all with a random sample of my vacation shots

Just curious, did you find easily Incotex pants in Italy?

I visited Naples in May and did not stumble upon any Incotex pants. In Milan I bought a pair from their showroom (officina slowear) and few others from an outlet. But still at least 100 euros for a pair.

Well, anyway, in Italy you find so many other similar or better brands.

I wasn't really searching that much for Incotex, the ones I found was in the second shop where I asked for them (a place called Angelo Marino). At 50% off they were about 100 Euro.

Great looking stuff, especially the gloves. Are they lined? They look so thin.

Awesome photos too.

Thank you.

The gloves are unlined deer skin. The green tag says 'M. Cilento & F.llo'. They were 110 Euros but I got them for an even 100.
