What would be your ideal RTW shop?

I have very little desire to shop--mostly because there's no one store I really like for all non-bespoke things. I find that I have to scour about a long time before I find a pair of cufflinks or a pocket square that I really like. I don't think my taste is all that incohesive, so I wonder why I can't find more of what I want in one place. Rubinacci is a lot of fun for me, but it's in Naples, and their RTW selection and accessories are not that expansive. So, I'm really talking about chiefly RTW stores, something more like J. Press. What would your ideal be?

For my style taste and, assuming I had the budget, I could do very well at Paul Stuart for most of my needs

Are you asking:

1. What is the best RTW shop available now?

or

2. If you could design one, what would that be like?

Would BG be considered a "shop"? Can't see why you can't find at least most of what you want there that is not MTM or bespoke.

But I suppose it's not "ideal" because it is so damn expensive.

I think you and foo should start a bespoke consultancy business. You can concentrate on the top half of the client (shirts/jackets/ties) and foo on the bottom half (pants/shoes/socks). Would generate a lot of buzz.

I like many of the things there, but they are rarely my favorite, and I hate the overall 'look'. I know that's just me, but there it is.

It can be an existing store or an imaginary one--whatever would be ideal to you.

I don't consider BG ideal because very little of what they carry is unique and can be found elsewhere. They carry too many big international brand names.

Yes among others including Alden and John Lobb. Brigg umbrellas, Locke hats, above average house line, Kiton, so on and so on...I'll post pics of the window displays tonight.

Sort of, and I suppose it depends where you are. Except for Saks in NY, I don't know what other stores would rival the expanse of offerings at BG. And except for items that may be duplicative of those at the actual brand store (i.e. Kiton, Isaia, BC), you'll find a significant number of things at BG that aren't found elsewhere - even at Saks NY or other Neiman stores. If uniqueness is at the top of your list, then I can't think of any RTW "shop" that would fit the bill while having a sufficiently expansive offering.

Just saw the reference to Old England in Paris. Definitely a great place.

What would be your ideal RTW shop?
