Shoe Shine in London

I am going to be working in London for the next few months.
Where can one get a decent shoe shine in the City? I work near Bank station.
My google and forum searches did not yield a definitive answer on the subject.

Burlington arcade is the only place I know of - but that won't help you much

Your office might have someone who comes around and does shoeshines, though - mine does

Leadenhall Market is the place to go near Bank.

It's "decent" but doesn't hold a candle to a NYC shoeshine....

There's a French guy called Marc who does shoeshine at lunchtimes next to Bow church on Cheapside (a 2 min walk from Bank). Â£3.50 a pop.

Edit to add - and you can pop in to Graham Browne tailors in Well Court (off Bow Lane) while you're at it.

The one in Burlington arcade is using Kiwi polish...
I nearly stopped and told him to get some saphir products...
He is quite busy especially with tourists...

Agree - should have clarified, this is the only place I know where to get a shoe shine in London; as for a good shoe shine I have no idea

Just passed him now, and he was definitely busy

I generally agree, but given that I'm here for a relatively short time, I've left my shoe cleaning kit and polishes at home. My long working hours are also not conducive to shining them myself.

Was hoping that there would be a London equivalent to the near ubiquitous shoe shine stands one finds in NY, Chicago, etc. I guess they just don't exist here for some strange reason.

Justin Fitzpatrick (blogs at the Shoe Snob) is excellent. He's now at Gieves and Hawkes Savile Row in the morning and Selfridges in the afternoon. Shine from £5 for a basic iirc up to £20 for the full military parade shine.

Cant believe that Saphir is best they use that at Hilton Park Lane
Kiwi full of chemicals no good for shoes at all
