It is not ridiculous to order trousers with belt loops, if you like wearing belts, order loops, if you don't wear belts, don't order loops. It's your money, your pants, forget what anyone else likes.

Ambrosi would best answer when the pants are available given his travel schedule, in terms of the work, I am sure that they will be ready before Autumn.

I may or may not be there on that day, but I would never reveal myself to SFers.

Ambrosi and Solito know what they carry and they are good at suggesting things you would not have considered, though you will have to know yourself and your taste well enough to decide when to ignore them and when to take a suggestion.

Belt loops are not at all foolish or ridiculous. I have belt loops, side tab and side buttoning trousers from them. The important point is to know what you want and why you want it that way.

Dopey and Ed,

Thank you for your responses. They are very helpful.

Ed, I certainly would not want to make you uncomfortable. You have no need to worry about me stalking you. I live a couple hundred miles away, and am making the trip specifically to visit Ambrosi. I will limit my contact with you to simply a PM or two (provided you don't object to that).

Again, thank you both for your input. Instead of thinking about specific fabrics, I will think about what I need to add to my existing wardrobe, and work with the craftsmen to determine what best meets those needs.

And, by the way Ed, thanks for the laugh.

I'll be there, as an initial client, on the 27th.

Salvatore's emails have made it clear that the first fitting will occur in September, so my expectation will be for delivery in the late Fall or early Winter. I'll be choosing accordingly.
Cheers,
J

I'll be there this Friday, can't wait to get started on my first bespoke suit.

for those who have worked with Solito and Ambrosi in the past, did you offer them much direction or did you prefer to just let them do their thing? I'm not sure how involved I should be.
