These vintage Nettletons, originally sold through Neiman Marcus, just closed on ebay:

Of all the shoes I own - entirely too many, getting close to 80 pairs now - I don't own any specs. Normally they don't appeal to me. These...did. Don't know why, but I like them. Maybe because everything's better in a double-monk. Actually, these are my first English-made BB/Peal shoes, too, my other pair being Alden-made shell cordo longwings.

Cool. I wore mine out to brunch and the art museum on Fathers Day. Pics are in WAYWN thread.

No, they weren't my size, and they're a little more flamboyant than even I am willing to go. I am a great fan of classic Nettletons, though.

If you call black lizard and suede flamboyant. Anyway, it's a fascinating shoe. I'd wear it. Yes, perhaps a bit flamboyant, but the flamboyance is tempered ever so slightly by the sombre color and the fact that the contrast comes only from the materials.

Allen Edmonds "Polo"

I do not know the year of production, I bought them new roughly 28 years ago when a small Men's Store went belly up and I was a starving student. Gently used, never been resoled or healed.

Anybody know the color combination these are?

What type of leather is the darker brown?

I haven't a clue, but I have always liked the color combination, and the contrast in leather texture.

Any AE collectors/historians or old AE salesmen out there?
