12k for that bed? That's an impressive mark-up, if it takes all of 2 days of labor to build that I would be shocked. The material is probably $800ish on the retail end.

I'm seriously considering building one like that, without the humongous head board, i'd probably tone it down to something a bit wider then the mattress.

No, the Henderson was pricing out over 8k for the king size storage. Then 2k'ish for the light bar above the bed, and 2kish for two night stands. So 12kish for the package.

This bed is 2k'ish for a king storage, so actually I have to add in the cost of two matching night stands. They include "white glove" shipping in the price, which is pretty nice.

The stands will cost about 2k for reasonably nice ones, even a pair of stands from Ethan Allen will cost that much. So its more in the range of a 6k difference.

2k for 2 night stands? That's a bit steep isn't it? You can get very nice pieces for 3 - 400 a pop.

It obviously depends on the design but I've seen Pottery Barn, Ethan Allen, Thomasville, and especially stuff sold at Costco in that range. Snagging them during sales helps.

I've been to the same places and rarely see anything under $600, but full retail, not sale pricing.

Why does everyone want to look like they live on a farm?

At the very least, you must have a pair of proper, non-trendy speakers:

The key is to dress like a farmer and live in a spaceship.
