"Selvedge" and "raw" are two mutually exclusive concepts. Selvedge refers to a type of denim woven on old-fashioned shuttle looms (as opposed to modern projectile looms). Raw refers to denim that has not been washed or pre-distressed. Jeans can be selvedge but not raw, raw but not selvedge, both, or neither. In your case, those RRLs are both. Selvedge has no bearing on how to wear them, as it's just a production detail. As for raw jeans, only unsanforized/shrink-to-fit jeans need to be soaked beforehand. Those RRLs aren't, so just wear them.

How do you want these to turn out exactly?

There is no minimum. Wash them when you need to. When you wash them, they get clean. Also, they lose a little indigo. Nothing gets ruined unless your definition of "ruin" is having your jeans turn a slightly lighter shade of blue.

I don't know how exactly i want them to turn out. the whole fading from like, my wallet and my knees or whatever will be fine enough. That would just be from regular wear. I saw someone post this pic before and i thought they were pretty good.

I know in the behind pic those things in the knee area is called honeycombing, but how exactly do you get that? i've seen some pics of people wearing the dark denim like that, but how exactly do they do that? i woudl think the jeans would just...you know...sag back down into a straight state.

^^ don't worry about how you get fades and over analyze wearing them. Just buy raw denim in a cut you like, and then wear them as often as possible washing as little as possible. too many people are obsessed with "how" to wear raw denim. I mean seriously, do you think truckers and farmer and mechanics care about getting "teh sik fadez"? They just wear the **** out of their jeans. end of story.

Steggy:

1. Purchase raw jeans. (you've already done this)
2. Wear the jeans as much as possible (all day everyday is preferred)
3. Wash or soak them when they get grimey, smelly, or if you spill something on them.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3.

Your fades will turn out however they turn out. thats why they are unique and individual to you. you aren't going to have the same fades as those nudies you posted.

Wait, are those actually raw RRLs, or just dark wash? I was under the impression that raw RRLs had no back pocket stitching.

It depends on which season they came from.

You should be able to tell whether or not they are raw based on feel; raw denim is usually much stiffer than "regular" washed denim. Your question about how honeycombs are formed suggests to me that they are not in fact raw, because if they were, the answer to that should be fairly obvious.

From what I understand they're TTS which means the tagged size = size of waist. May want to size down one for a slim fit though.

PM Mauro... he'll probably have a shipment coming in soon enough.
