Hey all, trying to decide between a few different suede desert boots from english manufacturers. Anyone have any experience with the following?

A&S Guildfords - http://www.pediwear.co.uk/sargent/products/1588.php

Grenson Smiths - http://www.pediwear.co.uk/grenson/products/1985.php

Loake Kempton - http://www.pediwear.co.uk/loake/products/2514.php

I was also looking at these C&J Tetburys - http://www.pediwear.co.uk/crockett/products/2290.php

and C&J chukkas - http://www.pediwear.co.uk/crockett/products/562.php

but I don't know if I can bring myself to spend that kind of money...

Any help appreciated

I have a soft spot for Grensons, but that just me... All the choices look good.

I think that if you go for Grensons or AS, you could search ebay and get better prices.

You can check plal.com also.

Or maybe, take a look at my sig. Not desert boots, but gorgeous

have only seen the grensons in the flesh, they would look pretty good with a suit. i would like to check out the C&J's they are narrower so probably more elegant in a formal context.

I have the C&J Chiltern (in that snuff colour on the pic) and I'm really happy with it. It's obviously one of their more bulbous lasts, but I think it's great for casual uses - I wear it more often than the C&J Chelsea I have.

The 348 last of the Tetbury is too narrow for me (in both look and feel).

C&J's fit my feet so well, I have a predisposition to like them. The Tetbury's are on my short term buy list and IMO are the most elegant. As an aside, I have not purchased from Pediwear, but have had very good luck with Robert Old. They take Paypal, and ship to US for free. Very good customer service, as well. I believe the Tetburys are the same price: http://www.robertold.co.uk/acatalog/...nes_Boots.html But what I really want to know is where to get these? http://elevenmagazine.wordpress.com/...-desert-boots/ Good Luck. Any of them would be the right choice.

There are some nice looking chukka boots there, but I am not sure any of them really qualifies as a true "desert boot." To my mind, a desert boot is a sand-colored, softly constructed chukka with a crepe sole, the classic Clark's product being the archetype, although far below the quality level of any of the shoes posted these days. I happen to be wearing my A-E Stanford snuff suede chukkas today, but I don't consider them "desert boots."
